What to Expect

Planning Your First Visit

Visiting any church, for the very first time can be a tough experience. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What’s here for my kids? What can I expect? These and many more questions can surface. Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Waters Edge Church, we believe will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We have Greeters that will greet you and hand you a bulletin containing important information. During the Worship service and beyond we want you to experience inspiring music, helpful relevant preaching and teaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home”!

Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.

What kind of Worship do you have?

To enhance your worship experience visually, you’ll also see the lyrics to the music on the large screens at the front of the sanctuary, so it’s easy to participate whether you’re a first time visitor or you’ve been a member for decades. The song selection is different each week, with enough repetition for everyone to learn, or at least be comfortable with, the songs.

We focus on contemporary music, but we don’t forget the value of the old classics. We keep our musical heritage alive by tossing in the songs of our past every now and then, and cherishing the lyrics that still touch hearts.

We encourage everyone to participate in praise and worship according to their personal comfort level. I strongly believe that God gave you a voice and He wants to hear you (and yes, that voice), so we encourage you to sing with us! We encourage you to clap your hands as you sing with us - we’re that kind of church. If you feel led to raise your hands during prayer or song, please be comfortable doing so - we’re that kind of church. If you find yourself moving to the music, we won’t stop you - we’re the kind of church who wants you to be comfortable in the presence of your Lord.

AT THE SAME TIME - if you prefer to keep your hands to yourself and stand quietly in the presence of the Lord, you’re welcome to do so. We’re that kind of church!

What’s here for my kids?

For children in Pre-K through 12th grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered classes on Sunday at 9:45. The Sunday school class is held before the service because we think it important to have the youth experience Sunday worship with their parents.  The Sunday school ministry is staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child

 How should I dress?

There is NOT a dress code at Waters Edge. Church is certainly not a fashion show and so you wear what is comfortable for you. Visually, you’ll see us in a variety of styles of dress. The men might wear slacks, shorts, jeans, perhaps a jacket, and they may or may not wear a tie. The women wear slacks, jeans, a dress or skirt. No matter your personal style, whether casual or more traditional, you’ll probably see a similar style reflecting you.

Am I expected to participate in the offering?

NO. We don’t invite you to Waters Edge Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. Please don’t feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.

If there’s something we missed!
